SCOTTSWOOD YMCA

Kendrick looked around the crowded YMCA as the youth basketball team played, watching the ball bounce up and down the court. Watching the people from the hood that he grew up with seeing their boys playing ball. In truth some of those young men would be in the gangs down the line recruited by his own men because that is what they knew, what his men needed to pass the baton when needed to the next generation. Scottwood was going places and it would with him at the helm, soon the drugs would infect the rest of the city and they could turn to poverty and the living conditions that forced Scottswood to become what it was. Taking out his phone he saw the text alert from Rocky who was watching the house he left with no bag meaning they could get in and get the drugs. He went to text Rocky back only to stop when Loco approached him to tell him that Ronan was spotted at the club what the fuck?

He had covered his tracks with the attempt and Loco already told him that Ivan had went back to the club to turn on him back to Ronan. Others in the rally did the same and his heart raced as one of the teams made a basket, Ronan would not be pleased that he took Yasmine. Ronan wouldn’t be pleased with how he treated the girls at the club not to mention Thor would tell him everything about what happened with Philip and Cassie. Yasmine’s words came back at him that he pushed a white man out of power and now that he had that power he was not letting it go. He nodded his head at Loco and then turned around to see Merci enter the gym. He wasn’t even sure he had invited her but she knew about it and seeing how they were seeing each other or fucking, he supposed in a relationship was the right word. It wasn’t crazy for her to be here his throat tightened he had to make her leave. Ronan would want his revenge.

“I wasn’t expecting you to be here. Don’t you have some fancy party to plan for?” Kendrick said hugging her briefly before pulling back. Things had been good between them but he knew in the life he led that it never lasted, it was why he pushed women away after Gina. He wouldn’t see another woman he cared about in a casket and his mind drifted back to Yasmine what was he doing? Yasmine was Gina’s sister, but she had betrayed him by going to Jamal behind his back and giving the stash to Jackson to move. “You really shouldn’t be here right now.”

Merci was a little annoyed that Kendrick didn’t invite her to some community event. Next time she’d help and give this little YMCA event a little class. Looking around the sweaty gym she saw so many faces. The way he approached her she felt like something was off. Playfully she punched his shoulder the man was so much taller than her. A smile appeared on her face. “Look people don’t know me and you are dating. You’ve made that very clear dude so I’m here to support a friend. I want to support the cause. These young men you help deserve and here’s a donation to the YMCA.” She saw a small child run up and hug Kendrick. “He’s adorable.” She smiled as she saw all the love for him and she couldn’t help but wonder why he went into the mob and gangster lifestyle.

Jamal stood outside of the dorms as the winter air blew against his skin. It had been so long since he had been here. It almost looked like another person’s home as he felt the brutal winds blowing past him. He knew that if he didn’t do something that his family would forever be looking over their shoulders. It wasn’t a good feeling knowing something you’d done had set up his family for self destruction. Folding his arms he walked into the dorms with his hoodie on. As he unlocked his dorm door and moves his chest by his bed. With one move he pulled up the floorboard and finally saw his leather book bag. There he unzipped the bag and found all the bricks of coke were there. It was molly, ecstasy, meth, coke, and prescription pills. It was more than 2 million street profits. He was going to shut everyone up as he found a solution to the problem that he had. No matter if his sister had Kyan fix this he could still be killed for his betrayal. If Kendrick and Ronan knew for a fact he was never to say anything.

Looking around he saw a picture of Money, Ivan, and himself. They were his boys and Money was gone, and Ivan was still in the mix. No doubt he wouldn’t be lost in this game. This game that he played everyone so well in. It was now called life or death and in his solicitude with the law the streets would have to know he wasn’t a snitch. Not only that but Yasmine deserved a chance even if it wasn’t with him. She was getting a raw deal and they’d never let her out. Not unless someone got her out of the game once and for all. This was what he had to do to make it right. To make everyone come away with their hands clean. As he zipped up the bag he texted Yasmine. Looking outside his truck was still there and so was his old identity. Who was he fooling? No matter what he did, Jamal didn’t belong in this lane. He wasn’t a gangster or thug but he was smart. He was smart enough to wheel and deal.

She was at the club a place he didn’t want to go. He simply informed her to meet him around the next corner. Walking out of the dorm he ran down the steps. When Bridget a prep from the Valley Tresca area approached him.

District Attorney Office

Braden looked at the clock rubbing the back of his neck dinner was a few hours away and he knew he couldn’t be late for that. Though honestly he wanted to not even host the fucking thing, his parents were livid. Ok his father was livid, his mother shockingly was calm and he tried to not think of the drama of dinner. Instead he went back to a pending case file and then looking at his watch Jon was late which was something his friend did rarely. He hoped that whatever Jon had found it wouldn’t waste his entire evening and loosening his tie he went to the wet bar for a drink. Selina was meeting with Chauncey and Lowell before dinner and call him naive but he couldn’t begin to believe the lies his own marriage was sitting in at this rate. She had sold him out for Jamal and knowing that deep down stung. When his office door opened and he saw Jon enter he handed him a scotch on the rocks.

“You’re late good thing your Dylan’s godfather isn’t it? So you said you had something on the Madden case? I just got word someone tried to kill him at the prison, Raven is on my back about a release.” Braden paused for a moment knowing how much seeing Ronan in bars meant to Jon and his family a promise he made. He took a drink regardless of a promise he knew he had to uphold the law something his predecessor told him, it was a fine line. “I’ll keep him there unless you tell me otherwise. Though I am a bit surprised you came to me instead of Gideon not that I’m complaining anything you told him would come to me anyway.”

Jon couldn’t believe what he was about to say and do. He believed in justice yet how just was it unleashing Ronan back into the public. All that would do was start a whipping match between Kendrick and Ronan. This was ugly but it was also the truth. Ronan was seen at the election party that night, along with the fact a green SUV sent Philip off the road. Well that pointed to someone else. Plus if it was Ronan men he truly knew they wouldn’t be finding Carla and Steven body parts. As he sat down sipping the scotch. Biting his lip he looked at Braden.

“So I may have ran across some new evidence that will exonerate Ronan. I don’t think that he is the one. I don’t think that he killed Carla and Steven for heaven sake I’m about free the most dangerous man on the east coast.” Jon pulled out pictures of the car first said to be leaving the scene of the crime. Now Philip collaborated exactly what he was thinking. Someone was setting up Ronan. “Not only that but Raven has stated he was at the club where Maggie Warner and Svetlana Romanov both attend that Ronan was occupied with both of them. It’s making me sick to my stomach but someone is letting Ronan take the fall for two murders he didn’t commit.”

Philip’s Condo

Philip knew avoiding her wasn’t the answer. Hell what was he supposed to say to Max right now? I believe that my ex-fiance little sister is a sociopath and killed her? At first it was just to find out what happened to Veronica. Then when he stumbled onto Scarlett’s little scheme with Mason well it made him more curious. It was exactly eight months ago when he first delivered the first letter it also happened to be the night Steven Kincaid died. Stalking Scarlett was one of the most satisfying things he’d ever done. Especially when he found Veronica’s diaries. The disturbing things that went on in that home. The Nichols looked kind the all American family but they were twisted and he thought his family was bad. In her diary Veronica revealed that she feared for her life.

A diary that constantly haunted him. How could he move forward when everything was still there eating at his entire soul. If she killed Veronica he’d get her peace. That was something he promised her no matter what. As he grabbed his keys Philip knew it was time to drive Scarlett even more crazy. He heard she thought it was Diego. He would use that to his advantage. As he grabbed his jacket he thought carefully. Kendrick had placed the club under siege exactly what was he to do with himself? For the last few years he wanted to work off his own name and became a shrewd businessman in his own right. However he was needing his father power to prove to Max he was the man for her. Walking outside he saw Jon standing there just waiting.

“Don’t you have someone else to harass Harrison? Sorry no new information today for you.” Philip pressed the elevator button on the condo.

Jon looked at Philip and folded his arms as he leaned against the wall. “I just honest feel you know a little more than you are saying.”

“Ironic, just like I begged your department into finding out if Veronica really drowned. A swimmer since the age of ten just was swept away. Well that sound like something well suspect. Now unless you have reason to be here this is private property. So I’d appreciate if you leave.” Philip said disgusted with the gall of Jon. This man really bothered him. Everything about Jon’s arrogance made him want to punch him. That night he sent Scarlett the first message. That bitch killed Veronica and stole every portion of her life. It disgusted him that he knew the truth. That the police wouldn’t even listen to him.

“Tell me Jon do you think you deserve my support when you all closed the investigation on Veronica. I didn’t see a damn thing and I can’t remember anything out of the ordinary so get the hell out of my house. I’m not playing Jon go!” Philip roared as he saw Jon wasn’t budging nowhere.

Everest Resort, Room 215

Selina touched the expensive silk on her wedding dress Dante really outdid himself. She thought today was supposed to be the happiest day of her life. This was supposed to be the wedding she’d always dreamed of. As she closed her eyes tears fluttered seeing her mother antique sapphire veil. Her father had dug it out of storage and she was wearing it today. It was blue diamonds, sapphires, and blue pearls her mother was exquisite on her wedding day. Merci had talked her into transforming it into a egyptian tiara. She looked down at the picture minus the horribly tacky decor of wedding her parents were beautiful. They looked like something out of a magazine and part of her heart fluttered wondering what her mother would think. From what her father had told her she’d think she’d be proud. Selina stood up with her silk robe on she floated to the makeup station. The woman began putting her finishing touches on her face. She had to be perfect. When she did this she had to be perfect.

Looking over she saw her father entering the room with a bouquet of white roses. She knew that she was going to break his heart today. She was going to hurt everyone she cared about but it was what needed to happen. “Daddy.” She said softly looking at him. “Tanya can you pardon us we would like to have a moment. I just want to hug and hold my daddy.” Selina rushed to him as she hugged him. “No matter what I’ll always be your little girl and you’ll always be the only man that was ever a superhero to me. It’s not many men who can learn how to french-braid but you did. You stepped up as mother and father and I love you for it daddy.”

Tony had stopped in at the kitchen just to make sure everything was in order before walking up the stairs to see his daughter. Merci had outdone herself the ballroom looked exquisite, it was what his daughter wanted for her big day and as long as she was happy he was happy for her. The guests would be arriving shortly for the pre wedding activities and then he would walk his daughter down the aisle. He paused for a moment to reflect on that how Gloria would have been proud of the woman Selina had become. There was also a somberness that seemed to settle on him as well her mother was not here to see this day, cancer had taken Gloria far too young and too early ripping her of these memories. He moved out of the way offering Tanya a warm smile as he smiled at his daughter admiring her dress. Little parts of his own wedding had been incorporated such as the veil and his throat tightened a bit.

“You’ll always be my little girl Selina.” Tony said wrapping his daughter in his arms in an embrace and a hug, he stepped back taking her in his sight. She looked stunning, gorgeous everything that a bride should on her day. The dress was something that took his breath away and then looking at his wife on display through the tiara it was hard not to get emotional about it. He let out a chuckle at the mention of braiding he had a lot of help on that matter thanks to Ophelia. Selina never let her do it, but it was their secret he practiced on Ophelia so he could do it for his daughter. “You look absolutely beautiful and stunning your mother if she were here today would agree. The dress alone, you picked good and your mother’s veil she would approve. Are you ready?”
