Walter looked over the crowd for a moment as he got his talking points ready it was going to be quite the debate and in few days people would be going to the polls. He had this in the bag the preliminary numbers already showed that. He looked over at Lauren who was staring at the crowd and over at Brenda things between them were still tense. He knew however they had to put on a show they always did, had been for years. They had to stay married for the children and he wondered over the last few weeks if that was where it went all wrong for them. He shook Charles’s hand as he made his way to his wife, who had focused her attention on glaring at Lex.

“It’s rude to glare my dear and we should be grateful for their help at the moment with the election. Lex is well aware that Dani won’t be here since she made that perfectly clear when I called to ask her to come.” Walter said looking at her and then he caught sight of Brenda walking towards them the debate would start soon. She looked stunning and gorgeous and he caught himself staring and turned back to Lauren. “For tonight can we please just put this behind us. We can see a counselor after the election if you think we need to again.”

Lauren eyes narrowed as she looked at her husband and was exhausted with this election. How could she continue to be the fake Mrs. Fraiser when she was hating him? After the election he might not have a family or a wife in his life. If he wanted Brenda that was fine she wasn’t going to be bitter. She promised herself that she was going to do better if she left him. Never had she ever been embarrassed by him until now. Yes he made mistakes but his vitriol hatred for Dani disgusted her. He had every right to hate Jackson but he had no right to disown his very own flesh. As she bit down on her lip she looked at him.

“Put behind our daughter and what’s right?” She seethed as she at looked at her husband. “It’s not about counseling it’s about your character as a man. I’m so sick of your smug indignation about her choices either you get it together and you promise me to try. Or I won’t go out there. I won’t I won’t pretend for the cameras.” Lauren looked at her lavender dress with her twilight gray jacket as she sat down. “This is it either you change and I walk. I’ll go to the press and bury you. Think I won’t try me? I’ll let that bitch win everything you’ve built.”

“Put behind this tension that you seem to have about Brenda. Should Dani not want to listen to reason about Jackson I’ve decided that’s her problem. When he fucks up and we both know he will she’ll see I was right and go right back to Lex. I asked her to come and she declined what more would you like me do?” Walter asked he meant it at Brenda the press had went into a frenzy at the Devonshire party and Lauren slugging her in the face. He had reached out to Dani he was still furious Jackson and she were living together. “I am not happy she moved in with him the fact you even support that is baffling. Bury me Lauren? You won’t you see deep down you don’t want Brenda to win either I know you and I know that much. Shall we take the stage they are about to begin?”

Taking his arm she looked at her husband as the pictures began. She leaned in whispering in his ear. “You are baffling to me as a man. If she kept that baby would I have even had a chance? I want a divorce.” She smiled and waved at the crowd as she sat down. Where was the showboat? When he sat by her she leaned in still looking perfect smiling. “If you don’t change I swear I’m leaving. Promise me now.” Lauren said waving into the crowd. “Walter I got half of all your votes from the women who want someone who they can trust. How much do you think they can trust you if you are a cheating asshole like their husbands?”
