Monique grew up in Chicago in an affluent neighborhood and for the most part had a normal childhood. Her father was a software developer for a top computer company in the area and her mother was a homemaker. She met Elliot Duvall at a civil rights protest, her senior year of college and the two instantly connected and began to date. She completed her residency at Chicago Hospital she was offered a position at the same location. For years she spent time on her practice and building her clients, even when she found out she was pregnant. The two welcomed Elliot two years after they married. For quite a while as a couple they made it work and eventually she and Zeke accompanied him to his rallies and protests. One night a protest turned violent to the point that Monique feared for her safety and her sons, she told him she could no longer support his ambitions any longer and filed for divorce.

They amicably divorced and began to co-parent together and grew to be great friends after the divorce seeking advice with each other and raising Zeke. When Elliot moved to Atlas Falls two years ago she and Zeke stayed behind with their co-parenting plan continuing. When a position at St. Christopher’s opened up they discussed as a family that it would be a good move as Zeke would be able to attend Atlas Fall Preparatory, and they would be closer to Elliot. She and Zeke made the move and she began to establish her practice, with Jackson and Dani currently as her clients.
