Devin is the son of Gregory and Anita Thompson, Anita is the sister of Tony Delacroix and due to a falling out over the later years in her life she and Tony were estranged. Devin grew up in the middle of Atlas Falls society his father was a detective and partners with Robert Harrison, his mother is a stay at home mom. While they didn’t struggle they weren’t well off either and his mother refused the money that Tony would offer them. He did start to run with the wrong crowd in high school when he and Kendrick became friends and his father had to sit him down and explain the harsh realities of his choices if he followed in the footsteps of joining Kendrick on his path. Making the choice to instead start to play football he was steered in the right direction and joined Braden Fraiser and Jon Harrison as local football heroes and Devin got a scholarship to play at Atlas Falls University something he attributes to his bright future and his choice to not follow Kendrick on the path of selling drugs for Michael Madden.

He blew out his knee in his sophomore year in college and then decided to finish up with a degree in criminal justice. He graduated and decided to then apply for the police department where he worked his way up starting the beat and then working his way up to patrol. He has had one serious relationship before Miranda that ended in disaster when Jade was unable to accept or live with the fact that Devin was dedicated to becoming a detective and a police officer. He finally passed the detective exam a few years ago and began his stint at the police department and six months ago he and Miranda began a relationship. He was assigned to work with Jon around the same time and was disappointed and angry when Jon was assigned to be lead detective over him on their team due to Jon’s war hero status. While he doesn’t hate Jon he feels like he no longer knows Jon as they have went on different paths in college and even in their adult life. He does love Miranda and they both have been torn on how they will break the news of their relationship to her brother without causing a rift in the siblings and his already fragile partnership with each other.

Season 1

Devin started the year secretly dating and falling for Jon’s sister Miranda the two had been together for months before Jon learned the truth and it blew up in both of their faces. He and Jon started the year off trying to solve the murder of Steven Kincaid after they discovered him shot to death in bed with Carla Luciano. It was trying at times as he felt that he and Jon often came from different places and viewpoints he even went as far as to lash out at him over his failed dinner with Dani. On top of sending Miranda undercover something that he worried about constantly Merci DuBois started to flirt and come onto him during the year. He rejected her advances pointing out that he wasn’t an asshole and he wasn’t going to break Miranda or Quinn’s heart. Merci was furious at him and the kindness that he showed her. Eventually Miranda called off their relationship towards the end of the year claiming that she needed time for herself and her daughter, along with her still grieving for her husband KC. Devin accepted that decision and was there when Kendrick kidnapped Yasmine and Dani, he was there when Jon took the shot that killed Kendrick. He comforted Merci and drug her away from Kendrick’s body after the shooting.

Season 2

Devin backed Jon’s account of the events of the shooting while he was on administrative leave, battling the press as well as Merci whom he kept running into. Merci lashed out at him and Devin pointed out he liked her but she needed to get over her hatred of his job that he wasn’t like other officers. The two decided to start dating and he even invited her to the Harrison and Fraiser annual BBQ and it blew up in his face when KC was revealed to be alive and she and Miranda got into a fight on the beach. He began to get even more serious about her when he took her to California over Thanksgiving to meet his parents and his sister. Rochelle was opposed to the pairing but his parents adored her and afterwards they made love in the ocean to cement their relationship. He was drug even further into the mess of Miranda when she hinted that Merci knew something about Skye and Jon. He questioned Merci who revealed that Skye had given Jon’s son away to Whitney and Ryan Hessington, she was furious when she caught him recording the message accusing him of taking Jon’s side. He in turn pointed out that she made assumptions about him and his work to hide behind the fact she doesn’t know her family. The two made up at Jackson and Dani’s wedding agreeing that despite being on opposite ends of the entire Jon and Skye situation they loved and cared about each other which was more important.
