Walter grew up in Atlas Falls the son of Donovan and Grace Fraiser. In high school he was the all star quarterback and was dating Brenda Thorpe, that would change when beauty Lauren Cummings caught his eye. He left Brenda for Lauren and then went to college at Atlas Falls University. He and Lowell were roommates and friends in college or so he thought, Lauren became pregnant with Braden and they married in a small ceremony. While in his software design class he created a security software and Lowell came up with the plan they should go into business together. Walter agreed and when his friend brought papers to him to sign to make the company DGI partly his he signed them blindly. Sealing his fate handing all his intellecutal property he created at DGI over to Lowell. Despite their friendship he learned it came at a step cost when he and the rest of the DGI board was thrown out of the company when Braden was a baby, their friendship never recovered and he vowed revenge on Lowell. Things were already strained at home with Lauren and this move would forever alter their marriage and his relationship with her and his children.
He thought about starting a new company but he didn’t have all the funds and instead he went to work for the family business which he knew Lowell couldn’t touch. Together he and his father and Lauren perfected the pub and brewery to a local hot spot and favorite, it does modestly and is a well run business known for its bourbons and whiskey that is made in house in small batches. Braden became the apple of his eye. Walter’s attention and time was devoted to making sure Braden had all the opportunities he wanted he also began another torrid affair with Brenda. When Lauren revealed she was pregnant a second time, he was distant to his daughter from the moment she was born. He didn’t want more children and in many ways has always taken it out on Dani. Their thrid daugther was born Victoria only to tragically die in a car accident when she was still a toddler he grieved in private and for him was the fianl nail in his coffin to Lauren. Instead over the years he has taken his rage and turned it to Lowell and DGI leading to a long standing feud between the two men. Working his way up politically to city council member with help from his old college friend Charles Hessington, Walter finally put in his bid for mayor against Steven Kincaid.
Season 1
Walter was in a political race to take on Steven Kincaid as mayor when the season began and was more than a little thrilled when Steven was killed, it increased his polling numbers. With no one to step into Steven shoes he went toe to toe with longtime rival and former friend Lowell. Lowell reminded him that Dani had went to DGI and he in turn assured him that was about family matters not her liking Lowell or his family. Dani stepped in at Steven’s funeral to end the spat where he reminded her of his disappointment in her choices. At the hospital fundraiser he was livid when Lowell pulled one over him and he learned that Dani was romantically with Jackson, even worse when he learned that Lauren and Jackie knew as well with Lauren not telling him. Lauren afterwards reminded him that he pushed Dani that way and mentioned Brenda and Walter refused to rehash things. Brenda stepped into the spotlight as his rival and he in turn used their affair and what he assumed at the time a child they had against her, reminding people of his and Lauren’s daughter that died. He tried to push Lex back into Dani’s life only for that to backfire as well and he was furious when he learned Dani was pregnant. Forcing his daughter to chose the family or Jackson he was livid when she chose a Devonshire. He finally relented just grateful that Dani was safe after the kidnapping with Kendrick only for Lauren at the end of the season to be the one wanting to rid Jackson from the family he refused. His marriage came toppling down when Brenda revealed that they had a child to Lauren who asked for a divorce and he finally agreed.
Season 2
Walter and Lauren divorced and agreed to split the Pub 50/50 in order to keep things running smoothly and in turn he tried to make amends to his daughter. He and Brenda began a relationship much to everyone’s dismay as well. He and Lauren continued to spar about the past with Lauren pointing out that he was never there for Dani and he in turn accused her of coddling Dani after Victoria died. Lauren admitted she blamed herself for the accident and Walter told her sometimes he did too. He had many run in with Dru Price over the season either at the Pub or why he was with Brenda, he softened slightly to her when he learned she was his daughter Kendall’s best friend. He and Lowell made amends seeing how their children had the twins and were getting married. He agreed to help Lowell run a DNA test on Zerick privately. After visiting Dani at DGI where he helped her on a wind turbine deal for a client in Montana offering her advice and asking to bring Brenda as his date, he was thrilled when Dani agreed and he swiped the cup from Zerick’s office to run the test. At the bachelor party for his future son in law Jackson told him to start treating Dani better or he’d remove him from the equation, Walter in turn agreed to try more. He walked Dani down the aisle at her wedding and made a good faith effort that day. After the wedding he received a call from a concerned neighbor who saw a strange woman outside his mothers house. He was more than alarmed that Dru was there and her constant need to insert herself into his family reminding her she wasn’t his daughter and it was odd she was so attached to him and the Fraisers. He told her to not make the mistake again or he would tell his daughter about it thus threatening Dru’s new position as the possible nanny to the twins.
